The use of the term 'Tribal Rugs' generally refers to the weavings of the nomadic peoples of Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. Following a history of ancient and traditional designs, these weavers produce patterns of which have distinct meaning and symbolism. This allows each weaver to weave a story into each piece they produce, whether based on tribal history, religion, or the personal views of the individual weaver themselves. These one of a kind pieces whether antique or contemporary, represent a unique connection to the very beginnings of rug weaving itself.
